Below is a list of the most common questions we receive. Please refer to this list first, and if your question is not covered here, drop us an E-mail or give us a ring. |
What should I be aware of before ordering? * The most important question!
There are a lot of details that go into printing and invitations. Before ordering any stock, consider the amount you need. It is always more cost effective to have extras than to have to order more later. If you need to place an additional order, realize you will also be charged additional shipping fees. Please order an additional 10% to be safe. This is especially important with custom printing such as offset, thermography, letterpress, etc. (anything other than standard black text). The cost can be as much for 25 as it is for 125 pieces, so better safe than sorry!
PRINTING METHOD:
If you are interested in something that will require custom cuts, custom colors, bleeds, or any kind of printing other than black text, please request a quote and get an estimate for those details! It may be more cost effective for the printer to have 8.5x11 sheets of stock, rather than the finished size you intend on. To keep your cost down and to keep the job a simple and effective as possible, consult with us before ordering your stock for these types of projects. Ink & Paper cannot be held responsible if you order stock and then change your mind on printing type, size, etc. It is always better to have an estimate on your invitation first! We love that are we one of the most cost effective out there, but we also pride ourselves on being very detailed and avoiding those last minute fees you weren't expecting.
* IF YOU ARE DOING YOUR OWN PRINTING:
Shimmer stocks and vellums are created to be laser friendly. Ink & Paper does not recommend using an ink-jet printer. Ink & Paper cannot be help responsible for any printing issues you may run into when doing your own printing.
If you are ordering blank Envelopments stock, your total invoice will be accurate. If you are ordering Envelopments stock that is custom cut or will require printing, realize your invoice total will be higher than shown on your 'store' invoice. You will be sent another invoice with all additional charges added in. If we have any questions regarding your project, we will clarify first before beginning. Ink & Paper charges Michigan tax on all product, but not on services. This is per Michigan Law.
Pricing for services can be obtained via e-mail or a phone call, so don't hesitate to contact us! We love the creativity of our clients and have yet to say no to any project, but we don't want to surprise you with a revised price tag after the fact.

How does payment work?
We accept check or credit card payment through our website - Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, and Discover. If you are paying by check the check must be received before the order can be completed.
*On custom printed orders we require 50% down, and then the other 50% once the order is shipped or upon receipt. For all blank stock orders, your account is charged once the items have shipped. |
What is your return policy?
If you have ordered stock that has custom services such as cutting, scoring etc, it cannot be returned. If you have purchased stock that you had us print, unless it is our error (of course we would fix it!) we cannot take it back. You can return Envelopments items as long as the order amount (before shipping and tax) is $100 or more. You will need to get a return authorization number from us before shipping the items back, and you will be responsible for the shipping plus you will be charged a 25% restocking fee. All returns are subject to approval by the vendor, and you will be responsible for getting the product returned in the same fashion it was received (in cellophane and boxed properly). We will give you details on this, as well as shipping address upon receiving your return number.
* Note: Credit to your account, minus the restocking fee, will take at least 4 weeks.

How do I place an order on your web site?
All ordering goes through the Online cart. It will take you through the necessary steps required. All Envelopments items can be purchased blank or with printing and then an estimate can be given based on printing preference. |
Can I order Envelopments® stock blank as well as printed?
Of course! All of the Envelopments stock can be purchased blank. If you are interested in a design on the " Envelopments" page or " Distinctive Collection" page that you would like without text printing, please contact us directly and we will see what we can do to accommodate you.
If you are ordering blank Envelopments stock, please be aware that it ships directly from the Envelopments warehouse in California. This means that Ink & Paper will not be able to check your order for accuracy. Be sure to check your order as soon as it arrives and report any errors to Ink & Paper immediately. Allow for additional time in case of errors or backorders. In the instance of a backorder you will be notified immediately with an estimated time of delivery. |
What services do you offer in regards to the Envelopments® line of products?
We can assist you with any type of service you may need on the Envelopments products, such as custom cutting, custom scoring, custom drilling (holes for ribbon, etc.) especially for those D.I.Y. projects. Please just let us know when you order, that you will require additional services (this can be put in the “Special Comments” section of the cart). We can work out the dimensions with you via e-mail or fax, and resend an updated invoice to include the services.
Below is guide to some Envelopments service pricing:
$7 per 100 pieces cut of any one item/color
Custom drilling: $15.00 setup, and $7 per 100 pieces/per layer
Custom scoring: $15 setup, $35 for one score per 1000 pieces, or $50 for double score per 1000 pieces
Curved closure slot (‘Envelopments' 5x7 and 6x9 only): $15 setup, $37 per 1000 pieces
If you are interested in us doing your invitations, or just assisting you in some areas, we can help you in design, printing, assembling, all the way up to addressing and mailing the invitations for you! However, if you just want a little help along the way, we can merely print your pieces, and you can assemble, or various other combination of services. Please don't hesitate to ask! We honor all kinds of requests and this helps immensely with the budget. We can give you pricing for our services and rework an estimate for you based on services chosen.

Once I place an order, how long will it be until I receive it?
 This depends on what you are ordering: Any Envelopments product that is ordered blank, should be shipped to you within 7 to 10 business days or approximately 2 weeks (excluding printed wedding invitation sets and any possible backordered items). If you are in need of a rush job, feel free to contact us and we will do our best to accommodate!
For any custom printing on Envelopments, or any custom gallery invitations, the timeline can be anywhere from 3-8 weeks, depending on the detail involved. It is always better to order ahead of time, and have all your text and information finalized. If you ever have any questions regarding the timeline involved just give us a call and we can help you out. We will certainly notify you throughout the process if for any reason we feel we are unable to fulfill the order in a timely fashion based on backorder, proofing approval delay, etc.

How do I find out more about the printing options?
Ink & Paper can offer various printing options, including offset, thermography, letterpress, foil and Engraving. These can be done in any Pantone color and in various fonts. Costs vary depending on type of printing, so a custom estimate is given. The " Distinctive Collection"displays invitations mostly done in offset printing. However, some are also available in thermography, letterpress, foil or engraving. All Envelopments stocks are sold blank through the store but can typically be done with these printing methods as well. We would be more than happy to give you an estimate! Please request a quote. |
| Do you offer calligraphy or addressing services?
Yes we do! We have a calligrapher on staff who has a couple different hands available- 2 standard and 2 intricate. We also offer handwritten services, and printed addressing services.
The calligraphy can range from $1.00 up to $3.00 per invitation set depending on the 'hand' chosen and what pieces need addressing. Standard handwritten ranges from.90 to $1.50 and we also offer computer printed addressing (font to match your invitation) starting at $1.25 per mailing address. The cost depends on the job, so we suggest you e-mail us your needs (including quantity), and we will be happy to send you quote, images of the hands, and an estimated timeline! |
How can I submit text for my Custom printed items?
If you are ordering printed items, you can visit our Text Studio after you have completed your order. You may then receive an additional invoice via e-mail with any printing and assembly fees for custom items. |
What is your process for ordering custom created/printed invitations (such as those seen in the 'Gallery')?
We start with your design - you may be choosing something from the Distinctive Collection, or you may want a different design. We can either work from your specific ideas, or help you create the design based on various factors such as season, color scheme, destination, etc.
If you are ordering Envelopments items to be printed,
please start by requesting a quote. We will respond within 24-48 hours with pricing that includes stock, printing, assembly, design and any other services you request. Should you decide to go forward with the custom order we start by sending you an order approval form. This form will indicate your quantity, cost and estimated completion date. At this same time we require a 50% deposit. Then we will begin your project! We will work up proofs in our graphic design software so that you will see exact pdf's of your invitation - size, fonts, and colors. Once approved, we begin the printing process.

What are your shipping times & rates?
Shipping Times & Rates
The shipping price is already worked into the online ordering process and can be seen before your order is submitted.
We do not currently ship outside of the U.S. for orders under $250 worth of product. If you are ordering more than $250 worth of product and are outside of the U.S., we will be unable to tell you the shipping rates until after the items have shipped. This is due to the fact that here is additional work on our part to receive the product, fill out the paperwork, and ship the product back out.
Upon completion of your order, you will be able to choose your shipping method from the following: Ground, 2 nd day or overnight. There are processing times for these methods. Should you choose an expedited method, realize that it still requires 24 hours of processing time, as well as the shipping method chose (for instance, if you chose overnight you would actually need to allow 24 hours of processing time, and then the additional night of shipping.) All expedites orders must be placed by Noon Pacific Standard time to be guaranteed this above timeframe.
If you choose Ground shipping, the processing time takes 2-3 business days + the actual ground time. See the UPS link under the ‘Once I place an order, how long will it be until I receive it?'
*If you would prefer Saturday delivery, please contact us directly. This is the most expensive form of shipment, and we do not offer it through our online store.
If you are ordering custom printed Envelopments/ Distinctive Collection items that will be created by Ink & Paper, there are additional shipping fees based on order amount. These shipping fees will be added to your final invoice and are based on your final invoice amount. All shipping fees will be 10% of the stock cost.
